Thanks, I am currently trying to get a backup i found of the ubuntu installed working. Good info though!
My server's hard drive crashed the other day. I wasn't able to recover enough to make the system bootable but I did get a copy of my /var/lib/mysql directory and the /var/www directory.
I installed...
Yes I am complaining. By itself I agree that is a trivial amount of ram and most likely no problem. but 277 different processes ruunning multiplies that number to something I feel is non trivial. If...
I have a fairly recent install of karmic on a desktop PC. It seems to me there is a lot of unneccesary things enabled by default. For example wpa_supplicant is running and I don't even have a wifi...
I am using a sata dvd-rw so I never tried the pata support. Sata drives are cheap now but it's a shame the pata support is broken.
Hmmm, I would suspect that you have a hardware problem. Are you sure its detecting it in the bios? If not it is probably a cable either the power or data unplugged. If you are sure the cables are...
Yes I had changed it to dhcp to see what happened but it had previously been set to static via the lines that are now commented out. Regardless of static or DHCP it stops all net traffic.
In an...
I have a ubuntu 9.04 server that I use for serving http and a few other things. It is setup to get an address via dhcp and the router is set to give it a dmz address the same as my wan address.
All...
The asrock is still running fine with ubuntu for me. The phoronix review should be amended and i suggested they do so but last time I checked they hadn't.
My old mobo's sound and network has gotten flaky so I ordered a new Asrock n7ad-sli only to discover phoronix lists this as currently incompatible with Ubuntu Linux including 8.10 and 9.04.
They...
I guess the reason I didn't see it in the change log is that it happened way back in 7.04 and I had missed it then.
Anyway I discovered the new variable is mail_location =
not
default_mail_env =
I just upgraded my server from 8.04 to 8.10 and dovecot has stopped working.
I use maildirs in the users home directory and it is complaining that
default_mail_env = maildir:~/.maildir
is an...
I think you meant to say /var/log/messages.
also the wlan0 may be another name such as wifi0 or ath0 depending on the adapter you use. run iwconfig by itself to discover the port used for wireless.
I purchased a 4gb creative zen a couple of weeks ago. I can use gnomad2 to transfer files to the device and create playlists but the playlist shuffle and edit playlists options appear to be broken....
Yes I discovered that now you need to use the file://location format. Before 8.04 I could leave out the file:// part and it still worked. I suppose it is due to the new gnome version. Nothing wrong...
Since I upgraded to hardy, making a link to a location on the desktop has issues.
I have a mounted partition at /mnt/mountpoint.
I can create the link with a location of /mnt/mountpoint
but...
Hmm you are using a newer version than I have. I am using wxsvg-1.0b7_2 , get that version at sourceforge and try it. I suspect that not all of the package's dependancies are met in cygwin. If you...
I think the latest wxsvg has that file as I couldn't find it either and everything compiled ok and works fine.
I am installing on amd64 gutsy. FYI latest DVDStyler depends on gettext so grab that from the repos also. Otherwise it does install under gutsy gibbon using the amd64 instructions.
I think it is beryl causing the white screen in frostwire. If i switch back to metacity using the beryl manager then frostwire displays correctly.
I had this same problem. Installing libvorbis-dev fixed it for me.
A little googling shows the word nobuntu is used to describe someone having the spirit of ubuntu. so How about nobuntu?
