    Seeing that you have had a successful trial, I think it is worth the attempt to run the screens and graphics changes. Worst case scenario, you can re-enable the backup xorg.conf.

    I use sabayon frequently and their implementation of drivers is pretty slick. I hope that 8.10 will solve the issues with the kernel errors and allow for proper loading of the video drivers.

    I definitely believe we have a kernel bug at work here. I recommend that you try the 8.10 live cd and try to replicate the acpi error on your hardware. In any event you will need to file a bug...

    sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
    or boot into recovery mode and use the xfix option

    No the tab issue won't make any difference...your xorg.conf looks ok so far. I can't help but wondering if the underlying acpi issue (the error you see when reconfiguring) is causing havoc...

    After some searching it looks like that error is a bug which has already been reported.

    Try booting into the recovery mode and using the xfix option and see if this action will clear up your issue...
