    Re: Performance issue

installing alternative DEs was just step 1.

Removing the Gnome3 DE would have come or after the shopping around was done, then wiping and doing a fresh, single, install to get the full DE...

[ubuntu] Re: Can't detect headset input

Are you certain the USB isn't for the speakers only and the 2.5mm for the microphone? Iíve seen that over the yrs.
  3. Re: To format media (NTFS) drive immediately or not

You can move show directories. Not a big deal.

    Re: Performance issue

No need to reinstall the complete OS just to change the GUi. The GUi is just another program.

    [ubuntu_mate] Re: rdiff-backup include/exclude-list

The order of options matter, just like with rsync.
Also, to ensure the shell doesn't expand the regex patterns, use ', not " for quoting. So,
    --exclude '**', not
    --exclude "**"

  7. Re: Sending / Receiving Files Wirelessly Between Ubuntu Computers?

NFS is easier than samba, by far. Plus, it works for all users on the multiple systems concurrently, not just 1 at a time. Mounts are systems-to-system, not user-to-system. if you want...

  9. Re: Sending / Receiving Files Wirelessly Between Ubuntu Computers?

So they work on the other side? On Unix systems, the data is only 50% of what we need. Permissions are the other 50%.

Samba has all sorts of issues which can be easily avoided by using NFS or...
  10. Re: Trying to solve windows 10 bootloader with bootrepair

That's a bunch of data loss. i'd stop using that drive immediately. The only thing it should be used for going forward to for read-only, attempts to get data off the drive. Use ddrescue to clone...

+1. Bios is the firmware for the motherboard/computer, before any OS gets loaded. i'm unaware of any way to access it once an OS has loaded.
