    If installation of windows does mess up grub, just boot to your Ubuntu USB install boot repair and install grub. It is possible that windows will leave grub alone.

    Think it is more to do with it being very new hardware. Linux and Windows settings do not cross over. You had to get the newest kernel for the laptop, imagine that windows is not up to date on it...
