okay, I've got a linux box with two nics, and I was wondering if I could stick it between my calbe modem and my router, in a sense, to be a firewall and a sniffer.

the laptop doesn't even show all of the neighbor's routers.

what am I missing?...

okay .. here's what I've got so far: 3 NICs. cable modem into eth0, eth1 to internet port on wireless router, wireless router (port #1) to eth2.

ifconfig -- verified that I have 3 NICs.
