When i type a command (sudo apt-get ect,ect) press enter and it asks for my password before it can run the command but when i try to type the password nothing happens???it doesnt let me type.

I know i have well over 100gb of space , but disk management will not let me shrink the c drive partition to create a partition for the ubuntu installtion, microsoft tech support would gladly help...
