Hey, thanks. There was a delay till the confirmation popped up in my inbox. I'm not sure if I understand the point of this policy though.
Hey,
After the 26th post, and about an hour, my user group was bumped up and I started editing my profile. And I changed my password, which immediately removed privileges and I start seeing the...
Did you try this once more? Is this bug fixed now? If not, what was the bug? Cisco doesn't support 32 bit linux anymore. The version you're trying to install on a 64bit system can give you a big...
Hi,
It depends where you're connecting to. If the secure gateway is configured for "Always on" in trusted network detection settings, then your access will be restricted entirely when you're on...
Hi,
AnyConnect VPN client IS compatible with 12.04 and installs and works fine. Cisco supports Ubuntu.
Hank, what does your syslog say about the attempted installation? Do you have xterm on...
Hi,
AnyConnect gives this error when vpn client can not successfully validate the gateway's certificate. You might be a victim of a man-in-the-middle attack, and the certificate might be tempered...
Hey, did you try topicon extension for GNOME3? Alternatively you can try
gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist "['AnyConnect', 'Thunderbird']"
and end you session and log...
Hi Jose,
What do you see when you run
tail /var/log/syslog
Banned for referring to a game I don't like
Tom hahahah
Oh, thanks. I'd rather avoid Win Vista/7/8 kinda look on my desktop as well as OSx, so I don't mind the absence of applets at all!
apt-get install gnome-session-fallback worked like a charm!...
Yes, I saw that. I tried Cinnamon before. I immediately thought about KDE when you suggested other trad desktop env
Oh, no, I hate KDE. Not a fan of XFCE either.
Is old-school GNOME desktop gone forever?
Hi, what do you mean without applet support? Do you mean software upgrade?
Thanks for the screenshot, I don't see org.debian.apt.install, but only "Install or remove packages".
Hi,
What's the best way to install new software? I mean where?
I downloaded the binary for some software, lets say dummy (I don't think there's a dummy package, I'm using it in a "you-name-it"...
Hi,
Ubuntu requires elevated privileges to install some software. In the pop-up where the root password is asked, if you click on details, you see "Action" and "Vendor". What's the purpose of...
Hi,
Is there a way to use the old Gnome? I'm not enjoying this OSx like environment with the side panel and all windows closing from the task bar. This is super annoying. I want my old Ubuntu...
Hi,
I think it's a little optimistic to expect a crowd at a bi-weekly key signing event. I'd be thrilled if there was one in every 3 months.
I agree that there isn't much going on at...
Hi,
Were you able to install Ubuntu on a VM? I'd recommend VMWare tools, it includes open-vm-tools and has a few extra packages. You need to click on VM->Install VMWare tools-> Then mount,...
Hi,
You changed your password on the remote machine during the ssh session. If you have physical access to that machine, you'll see that you can log in to the "GUI" just fine.
One more thing:
I actually moved the bin file to /usr/lib/jvm/ to make sure it installs the right location. It first extracted everything under Downloads/ the first time I tried.
Perhaps...
Silly question: Have you changed the permissions of the bin file by any chance? Maybe something like
chmod +x /home/user/Downloads/jdk-6u23-linux-i586-rpm.binOf course you may as well have...
