    Re: Real Noob just trying out C

    Strange, it worked here. Try the following (adding a line break):

    #include <stdio.h>

    int main()
    {
    printf("Hello C World.\n");

    Re: What is a good game engine for c++

    Well, there's http://www.panda3d.org/, that has both C++ and Python API.

    I've only used it for a short time, so I can't name it's qualities or defects.

  4. Re: Embedding LUA to C++ - Missing headers while compiling?

    Lua 5.0 doesn't have the functions 'luaL_newstate' and etc. This functions were added in version 5.1 (the current version, released in 2006).

    The official site is: http://www.lua.org
  5. Re: Embedding LUA to C++ - Missing headers while compiling?

    Hi,

    First, it's Lua, not LUA (it's not an acronym, it's the portuguese for moon).

    Here goes a simple example of how to use Lua with C++:

    extern "C" {
    #include <lua.h>

    Re: swig with gtk

    I've done that, for 'fun'. I've created a GTK wrapper and then used swig to generate bindings for other languages. You will have some challenges when dealing with g_signal_connect and etc, but...

    Re: playing sounds in c++

    There are many libraries for audio;

    GStreamer ( http://www.gstreamer.net/ ) is a high level library that will probably suit your needs. It's not so easy to learn, but it's worth it.

    Re: "Poll Results" algorithm question

    Since it's a multiple choice poll, I think your way is more adequate.
  9. Re: Building a library using a *.so library and its *.h header

    Keeping it simple, for libraries already located at the include / lib path (like /usr/include and /usr/lib), it's just this:

    gcc myfile.c -o myprogram -lname_of_the_lib

    or, for a shared...
  10. Re: Congratulations to Fedora 13. My condolences to Ubuntu.

    Wait... what? Vala is designed to make possible the use of libraries like GTK+ with a modern, C# like language, instead of using with the original C API.

    I don't like .NET either, but this...

    [SOLVED] Re: Gtk, Cairo plotting

    You're welcome. gtk_timeout_add is deprecated (will be removed in GTK 3+, try to change it to g_timeout_add).

    This kind of error is usually related with multiple threads using GTK+. I don't know how you are managing the threads that you've created, but try to delegate all tasks that uses GTK+ to the main...

    Re: C case insensitive file open in unix

    You must include string.h . Since you're using C++, use:

    #include <cstring>
  14. Re: wxWidgets vs gtk (wxPython vs PyGTK, specifically)

    GTK+ is portable, but have issues in Windows (2.16 works fine, 2.18 is weird) and MacOs (never tested myself). When targeting only Linux, I prefer GTK+ for it's nice API and set of features.

    Re: Glade & GTK+ Incompatibility

    To prevent the window deletion, you can connect the "delete-event" signal to a callback that returns TRUE, indicating the event was fully handled there and shouldn't be propagated further.

    Example...

    Re: Hopefully easy Glade question re GtkEntryBuffer

    GTK+ 2.18 separated the GtkEntry into GtkEntry and GtkEntryBuffer, but Glade doesn't support this yet. You will have to wait an update, or write the GtkBuilder XML by hand.

    P.S: seems that you can...

    Re: Python hates Geany and IDLE?

    Well, maybe it's an encoding problem? Set the same encoding that you use in Netbeans and test.

    Doesn't makes much sense, but the problems doesn't too =)
