So my 2TB disk has an ext4 filesystem, but no partitions. I think this came about as the result of a ddrescue operation in which I apparently forgot to partition the current drive before resucing...
It sounds like Ubuntu is working just fine, so I'm not sure what you hope to acheive in an Ubuntu support forum.
Vista didn't get a bad reputation for being awesome. I would suggest seeking...
Say you have two servers: Server 1 and Server 2
In addition you have one workstation, through which you access both via SSH.
Will there be any difference in transfer speed between:

I just have the relevant line fstab to mount /dev/sdb to /media/whatever.
I am slowly copying everything over to my new raid array so that I can clear the drive and format it correctly.

I have a 2TB disk (sdb) which is mounted as ext4, and works fine.
I need to move it to a new machine, though, and I just discovered something odd.
fdisk and parted both complain that sdb has no...
The solution is to install gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio
Cheese's latest bug seems to be that attempting to record a video locks up the program, or at the very least results in a video that won't save.

Hey all,
So I am having issues with network manager. It does nothing on new networks. If I click on a new network, literally nothing happens. At home, it will automatically connect to the...
I just got a new car that can use a thumb drive with music on it. Awesome!
Unfortunately, it will not use tags to organize music, rather it uses the folder structure.
This means the...

This is very frustrating.
The mousepad on my laptop is kind of a POS. In order to get multitouch to work, and to make the mousepad not freak out when my finger gets within 100 yards of it, I need...
Hey, so the world clock applet screen has migrated up so that half of it is off screen. Does anyone know how to reset the location or lock it back to the worldclock applet? Every time it opened, it...
Thanks, that did it. I had tried adding "sleep 10" but that did nothing so I removed it. I am less impressed with 10* than I was with 8*
Oh well, thanks for you help man!
Hey all,
So I have a script that I need to run at login. I have added it to sessions, but it doesn't work. I can run it through nautilus, and via a terminal just fine. This is the script

alright. Now I'm getting really frustrated. It turns out the scripts are fine if I run the manually, but not at startup.
I have that set up. If memory serves, this fixed the erratic mouse movement when two finger scrolling was activated. I don't even have the option to activate it because it is greyed out.
Thanks guys. Next time, I'll do this. I didn't really put much thought into it, as it was kind of a spur of the moment decision to travel with a fresh installation.
So I am in DC for a semester, which will be fun, but I don't trust the network that I am forced to use.
I have a very basic VPN set up with OpenVPN to my home network using a 2048 bit static key,...
3810T and fresh maverick install.
The two finger scrolling option is greyed out, so I can't even enable it, much less activate the fix.
Any ideas?
No terminal entry. Just drag and drop.
The Live CD is working. Still a little over double the reported size, but 17 Gigs can be copied to an external drive.
262 petabytes would strain my...
And 3 months later Canonical can't fix a critical error in their installation media.
Come on.
That's kind of what I thought, but I tried to back it up to a remote server, then to a 32 Gig Thumb Drive, then to a 1.5 TB External drive.
I'm going to try to do it from a live CD and see what...
