I found the problem in my case. In the BIOS of my Asus eee 900, you can choose the boot order. I had chosen 1: Removable devices, 2: Harddisk. But it still did not boot.
Then I realized another...
1) Is there a way to check if the USB drive actually has an mbr, instead of just assuming?
2) How do I tell the device name of my USB drive? When plugging it in, three new devices appear in /dev:...

How do I know which harddisks are compatible with a given computer?
So far in my chaotic IT life, it has been trial and error, but now I would really like to know.
I guess it should be...

When commenting out this line, I still get the same error.
My question is...
Note to others: A restart is needed after purging before the tablet is actually disabled.
Thanks for the help :)
If I do 'netstat' without any parameters I get (after waiting 5 seconds, I think this is for the host name resolution) something like:

So I guess this is the command line equivalent:
sudo aptitude purge xserver-org-input-wacom
If I change my mind, can I undo this simply by installing the same package again?
I have followed the instructions from the first post of this thread, and when running conky I got this error:

Now, I understand why I get...
