Apparently this "Bash" version is useless to my needs. According to the Howtogeek site: "There are some limitations here. This won’t work with server software, and it won’t work with graphical...
I have now updated Windows to their "anniversary edition". I did it in part to act on their promise that I could use Ubuntu within Windows. I need further instructions on how to install Ubuntu using...
Your mouse and keyboard issues could be related to the hub. Is it self powered? It could be an issue of power to those devices or a more deeper bios issue. My mouse issues have more or less...
I may still do an upgrade to Precise but need to find a way to get to the Classic Gnome shell. That's another ball of wax for which I'll no doubt discover the solution on this forum somewhere. I...
Yes, I'm very aware of that. However most major programs made for that other OS will work with a subsequent release of that OS. GIMP, in spite of its flaws, is a major graphics program for Linux and...
How long has GIMP been in circulation? I'd like to see whether the developers are serious about making it a serious competitor. The one thing that I've found with Linux based OS's is that they are...
I'd like to know if I will still have that choice on login when I upgrade to Pangolin or do I need to install some other packages to get the Classic Gnome option?
Yeah, Gimp is OK but it still doesn't have adjustment layers. A serious drawback for me.
I like Darktable for its powerful plugins and effects but it is a butcher of time when it comes to the clunky and tedious method for "exporting" images. I do NOT want to have to type in a file path...
I have to agree with you. It does seem that from the posts of people for whom the "hide" function works that its functionality would be related to their different machines. That doesn't make too much...
I have a similar problem. I have Oneiric still but can't find the functionality in System Settings/Appearance for hiding or customizing the Launcher. I don't mind Unity too much but I'm thinking of...
I have a similar problem and it's also my external drive, a Western Digital Green 2 TB drive. Gparted was handy in identifying it. It's also attached to an open ended external box where the drive...
What does the gparted app and making partitions have to do with the Recovery Mode stalling? That's my problem here in search of a solution. I have already 3 partitions on the main drive, one of which...
I'm trying to reset my password in Generic Recovery mode but the screen stalls. I just get a blinking cursor after the initial information line comes up. Should this take FOREVER to load? Should I...
I attempted to install the deb file for Natty in terminal with a sudo apt-get install command, opening a terminal in the folder the deb file was in and got the error message "Darktable command not...
I have a similar problem with a RealTek soundcard on an HP a1610n. PulseAudio seems to be installed but there is no sound. I checked devices and the volume is up and not muted. Why no sound. Output...
I had or maybe still have the same problem as the above posters. I did uninstall compiz before I got to this thread. The disaster continued when I logged back in to Ubuntu. Will the solution posted...
I have a similar problem or maybe had one. I installed compiz and tried some configuration changes. Apparently I lost unity in the process. Tried Unity -- reset but nothing seemed to work. I found...
Occasionally but not always my mouse responds by my hitting the ESC button. So far in the past 2 days the mouse has behaved itself. On Monday of this week I took a chance because of this bad behavior...
I found another one which is pretty cool except for the way it handles window sizing. It's called Mandelbulb.

Perhaps it's unrelated but could...
Please don't spam this thread. Thank you.
I was looking at the notes for the 2.0 script and would like a bit of clarification. If migrates to a partition with the grub boot-loader, reboots, what do I see? Will I see the current list of two...
It apparently corrected itself on reboot. This was almost giving me a deja vu experience ala Microsoft.
The only problem I have with it is that I can't hear my compositions. I have the Master Volume all the way up.
One word: Ouch!
