  1. [all variants] Re: Truecrypt + LVM: Would it work the way I'm thinking?

Alright, but thats the beauty with this setup. It's the underlying block devices that are encrypted. not the volume. So if there's a corrupted bit on one of the drives, only that drive fails and only...
  2. [all variants] Truecrypt + LVM: Tried and tested

I've been using this setup for a few months now, pooling a total of 4 drives to a logical volume of 1.5 TB. It works beautifully, have not had a single problem with it.

    The thing that could be...

[ubuntu] Re: 8.10 no sound after starting vlc..

Could be something to do with the audio output plugin that vlc is using. Try playing around with different output plugins in the vlc settings.

    Are you on a laptop?
  5. [all variants] Re: Truecrypt + LVM: Would it work the way I'm thinking?

Just to wrap this up. I devised a test scenario and, good news first, it works.

Might just have to try it. By the way, Germany just won. Wohoo.
  7. [all variants] Truecrypt + LVM: Would it work the way I'm thinking?

I have a fileserver with quite a few disks and they're encrypted with truecrypt. Now it would be neat to be able to pool them into one virtual volume.

I'm thinking this should work using the...

Re: HOW TO: Resumable VNC Session Available at Startup

Thanks for this great HOWTO. Also works on Gutsy with a little change to the location of the gdm configuration. It is now located directly under /etc/gdm. 4 and 5 should now look like this

Re: Well done on Edgy, simply awsome !

I have to say, the only problems I had resulted from my customizations. I did a command-line update of dapper and really only had to get a new version of phpeclipse manually to make it work with the...

Re: Idea Discussion: Human Install Guides

I think the Install-Fests have sort of died down because the install itself has become quite simple. Today it is not so much a question of getting installed as a question of getting started and the...

Re: Idea Discussion: Human Install Guides

I know what you mean, but I think that exactly would be the task of a Human Install Guide. To drive the point home, that this is not Windows and how they can still do everything and more.

    And...

    Idea Discussion: Human Install Guides

Preface: I believe that two things about Ubuntu and Linux in general are true:

Ubuntu is a great Operating System for the average computer user. It is more secure and easier to use. Read these...
  15. Re: [PDA LINUX Oriented & Dedicated] PDA with Genuine LINUX OS (Zaurus type)

I just got my Zaurus C3200 today. Slapped OpenZaurus with GPE on it. So far it's the nuts. Just a linux-machine for your pocket.

It is an investment though. Still trying to get the networking...

Re: This is actually very funny

But then what is the point of paying for software if you're not gonna get support? I thought that was the case they are always making. Buy it from us, you'll get support with it.

    And even saying...
