By freeze, I mean it stops taking keyboard and mouse input entirely and the screen stops updating. The only thing I can do is hard reboot. This most often happens when torrenting - I usually can't...
I'm having an issue in 11.04 where my system freezes sometimes and I'm forced to do a hard reboot. I read that the problem might be with the kernel version that ships with 11.04, and I should upgrade...
Running a fresh install of 10.10. Installed Banshee, it fails to run and gives me this:

I had this exact problem until today. The problem is with gnome-screensaver, all you have to do is replace it with xscreensaver.
I have an Atheros AR5008 chipset. Like several others I've been having trouble with wifi transfer rates with the ath9k driver since upgrading to 11.04. But none of the "fixes" have worked for me - I...
Yeah, yellerkat's fix doesn't help me either. Neither does updating my kernel. this is kind of driving me crazy.
Solved, had to use this:
I've tried disabling and re-enabling Window Decoration in ccsm, I've made sure "shadow windows" is set to "any". Running compiz --replace doesn't help.

I downloaded gparted here
I used unetbootin to put it on a USB drive. I rebooted and selected the USB drive from my boot menu. The following appears:

When downloading a well-seeded torrent, I used to get speeds anywhere from 500-2000 kb/s. Lately though I've been lucky if I can get over 50 kb/s. It doesn't matter whether I use Deluge or...
Okay, I just ran
sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M
and now everything seems to be normal. Not sure why I suddenly had to do that.
Also if it helps, here's the output of iwconfig:
wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:"linksys"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:1D:7E:59:04:0E
That doesn't really apply to me as I'm using a desktop, not a laptop. Checked power management anyway, it's off.
