    Re: FreezyLinux

Are the ISOs available as torrents? I don't have the patience to wait an entire hour for a file sharing service, and besides, I can seed it when I am done.

  4. Re: Another meaningless distrowatch measurement thread/rant

I haven't chosen to use a Gnome based desktop for several years. Gnome has always seemed bloated to me. I have been a big fan of XFCE for some time but have recently switched to LXDE.

    Even on...

Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

My first serious at a customized Conky Script. The basic design is a heavily modified derivative of Clock Rings

Re: What $5,500USD would get you in 1977

A loud, vibrating, clattering beast of a daisy wheel printer that no doubt ran everyone out of the room when it was in use!

But it did produce letter quality output...

What $5,500USD would get you in 1977

What a deal! Only $5500.00!!! (in 1977 dollars, to boot!)
  10. Re: A compilation of Ubuntu Forum Haiku Poetry

I don't know any "serious poets" who write about IT, but there are a bunch of Nerdcore rappers who rap on IT related subjects. Here is a link to the lyrics of I Remember, by Dual Core (ft....
  11. Post your small (100 lines or less) utility scripts and programs

As an amateur programmer, I get bored sometimes and set out to write little scripts (Usually in perl, but more and more in PHP lately) that teach me something new and do something useful.

    Anyone...

  18. Re: Is there anything going to be done about Linsux trolls?

It seems rather silly to me to be concerned about what the members of another forum are doing or saying.

    Let them have their fun.
  19. [ubuntu] Re: can't create a document in my var/www folder...

My solution was to create a www directory in my home folder and then create a symbolic link in the /var/www folder that points to the www folder in my home folder.
  20. [ubuntu] Re: how to use HTML to run a command? VERY important!

Perl can also be used to accomplish the same task. Here's an example that executes "uptime" on the server and returns the result as an HTML page.

    [ubuntu] Re: Webcam on pidgin

You might consider trying gyachi. It's a Yahoo Messenger clone for GNU/Linux. The sourceforge page even has a link to a package for karmic. I don't think it's in the official repos.

Re: Is Ubuntu getting too fat?

Add my +1 as well. If you don't believe it, download and burn a Zenwalk Gnome Live CD and see how much more efficient it is than Ubuntu.

Ubuntu has it all over Zenwalk (which is Slackware based)...
  25. Re: Theory on possible hurt (or good?) to linux
