Used to have some friends in Wilmington; I lived in Carolina Beach for several years and ran a Windows-based BBS there.
Glad to see someone from my old stomping grounds.
Has anyone been able to set up and run Ubuntu on this setup? I have a Power Macintosh G3 266Mhz, 6Gb HD, floppy, Zip.
Do I stand a chance in making it go??
Thanks

Please pardon what may be a terribly stupid question, but how do I know if the machine I have is a 32bit or a 64bit?

Already did that-still nothing.
Either one would be nice-I've tried playing a DVD directly in the DVD player, and I've tried copying one that was copied to disc and playing it. Nothing happens...
Well, I have downloaded and installed 4 different sets of codecs, 3 movie players, and still cannot view movies.

I'm new to Linux, so I don't know what those are or how to get them.

I have a LiteOn DVD/CD...
Sorry, I had forgotten that I had posted this already earlier.

Well, now it's doing the same thing with 8.04-1 as with 9.04. Grainy screen and system lockup. I'm beginning to think my computers are hexed

How do I edit xorg.conf to make my video card/monitor work at 1024x768?
Nope, all that, and no change.
Highest resolution I can get it 960x600. It's a 17" standard (old-style) monitor, so everything is so big, the dialog screens will not all fit in the screen.
I get a warning:

I just installed Ubuntu 8.04-1 on a machine, and the video and audio are not working properly. The video will not reach it's fullest resolution, and I cannot make the audio what it's supposed to.

I just compiled an application, and now I need to know how to get it to run every time the system reboots. I also see it has to be run as root.
Thanks
I have the original ******* drivers. How do I use them to make the hardware (sound card, video card, etc.) work properly?
