  2. [ubuntu] Re: Partitions - take from Windows and give to Linux

Shrink sda3 from inside Windows however MSFT says to do it.

Because the 2 partitions are NOT next to each other, you can't "merge" the space into one, which is fine. Normally, we want the OS...

Re: Slow Boot running root from SSD on Pi 4

I know ZERO about booting rpis, but have 2 here working with custom installs.

You have 2 partitions with the same LABEL and same UUID. Don't do that. The fstab doesn't know which to use.

When a file system goes read-only, that means there is some sort of corruption that needs to be fixed (usually by a power spike) or some failing hardware like a HDD or disk controller. Sometimes it...

Re: Permissions Appear Correct, but Fail

Hopefully, there isn't any way to get "inside" a running container. That would be bad, against container best practices, and defeat the purpose. Containers should only have enough OS to do the...
  9. Re: For how long are you using your External HDD ? Which brand is it ?

snapshots alone aren't backups. They are a method to freeze specific blocks so that a backup tool can get a 100% quiesced backup. Snapshots are handy for a few other uses, like being able to roll...

Did you reboot after the driver install?

I don't know how to force the nvidia GPU to be used rather than the iGPU from the Intel CPU. Sorry.

what's the difference? One is a variable that gets expanded to the value it contains.

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 running abnormally slow

"slow" can mean almost anything. It isn't surprising when an Atom N270 w/ 1GB RAM system runs slow with Gnome3. That is expected.

    Re: slow boot after install

The CPU, RAM, SSDs and that GPU should make for a crazy fast box. Sometimes people will have the same complaint but running an N270 Atom CPU from 2010 with 2GB of RAM, slow HDD. That isn't the issue...

[ubuntu] Re: cloning a new drive?

Re: Stripped down server for QEMU KVM
