  1. Re: share internet between windows7 and ubuntu

Try the link suggested by SeijiSensei or my suggestions.

I think this is a windows issue & you need to try a windows forum.
  2. Re: share internet between windows7 and ubuntu

If you can successfully ping each machine, I'd suggest the network settings are set up correctly on your ubuntu pc and
therefore the problem lies within your windows laptop. So that will be a...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: Random odd question. Displaying Android phone output through HDMI using Ubuntu la

I would suspect not. The HDMI port on a laptop is most likely an output only port, where as the HDMI port on a tv/monitor is an input port.
  4. Re: Is it possible to be hacked by facebookmail scam on Ubuntu?

I doubt your browser has been 'hacked' & I wonder how your brother's girlfriend came to that conclusion.

I've had problems in the past with my yahoo email account sending out spam to everyone in...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: HTML5 working for youtube but nothing else.

As the plug-in is working when you view youtube videos, it will work whenever any other site requires it; nothing more you need to do.
Not sure what you think it has do do with Skype though.
  6. Re: OpenSSH on a unique port instead of the default 22 does not work from outside the

hawkmage is quite correct, no need to change your internal port set up, all you need is to change the port forwarding settings in your router.
Choose a port above 10000, this will reduce unwanted...
  7. Re: How do I set up Static IP for NAS on DD-WRT Repeater Router?

I don't think you should be creating another subnet at all, ie the 192.168.1.xxx network.

Your Airport Extreme is presumably the DHCP server, it will allocate addresses from within a certain range...

[all variants] Re: Canon Pixma MP495 All in One Printer

Just add the bit about scanning.

If there are any errors, I'm sure anyone who follows it will point them out & then you can amend it. Only way to test your notes would be to delete everything & do...

    Re: Create a wireless network

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to achieve.

Your UMTS stick connects your laptop to a mobile phone wireless network, giving it an internet connection. WiFi doesn't come into it.

    A mobile...

From memory, that all looks ok. Apart from a few grammatical errors ;)

The most confusing part is trying to understand the printer's instruction manual lol; particularly how many times you have to...

    Re: Create a wireless network

To create a wireless hotspot your wireless adapter needs to have the capability to act as an access point, not all do.

A very simple solution would be to use a wireless router. That would then...

Re: Can't Keep an IP Address?

You haven't mentioned the make & model of your modem/router, which makes it difficult for people to help you check any settings etc.
If the DHCP server in the modem/router is behaving as you...
  15. Re: How to Access Server from Outside Home Network

Also, do not to use external port 22 as you will be subject to relentless break in attempts. Using one above 10000 is a good idea.

  17. [ubuntu] Re: After installing Ubuntu, my windows partition seems to have slowed down

Maybe Ubuntu runs much faster & it's your perception that ******* is slow ;-)

Seriously though, have you shrunk your windows partition too much? I seem to remember that it needs at least 10% free...

[SOLVED] Re: sharing printer with two desktops?

Yes you do need the appropriate driver installed on any machine wanting to print to the networked printer.

Also remember that the machine to which the printer is physically attached needs to be on.
