Good news, thank you. Weekend it is then.
Edit; The live session complained about some internal error but I choose to ignore it and went ahead with the installation. Up and running for now.

Yes, will give it a new try this weekend.
Thank you people, looking forward to it.
So what is your impression of Unity 22.04?
I will probably wait for the official iso release before installing, maybe a live session preview of a daily build if life challenges permit.
Thanks for the good news @corraduventu. Will have a look at it, remember the Unity desktop as excellent. Will be an interesting choice to Gnome (I hope). :)
Worked for me.

The firefox-snap crashes now and then for me. Have you noticed anything similar? Has happened on 21.10 too.
Or take a backup and start fresh with a reinstall of 22.04 which is a LTS release and is due the 21 April.
Thanks for the solution, I were really wondering what the command was, "kgx", lol.
Yes, update came through after a while here too. There were some other packages too, about 10 if I recall correctly; that were held back for a day before they upgraded.
Thanks for the links @Claus7, have not read them yet, but will do so later. Looks like there are some interesting stuff for me there.
Reacquainting myself with Ubuntu and 21.10, sweet so far.
#! rocks!!!
Fresh install. Upgrades break bad when they break.

Here is the solution to boot problem with live usb;

Google it!
Then you can look forward to the next LTS, 12.04 will be supported for five years.
Does 10.04 work on your machine? What kind of computer specs do you have?
I hope that you feel better after this little venting. There is in fact a better place for venting, Ubuntu Testimonials & Experiences. Good luck further.
Gnome is changing, no matter what you think of the new Gnome desktop, so do not blame Ubuntu/Canonical for that, and the only sure thing in life except death is change, which is a change, kind of. :)
Do not start new threads, keep your update/upgrade problem in one thread.
