    Re: Is Ubuntu POSIX-compliant?

I almost, ALMOST let this slide....

GNU/Linux would make sense if GNU code made up a significant portion of the code base.

According to the FSF's own site even the FSF compatible distributions...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: "Input Signal Out Of Range'' Help A Newbie Out!

If you can hit Ctrl Alt F1 and log in run:

    sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop

    sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

    sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start

That should fix things most of the time

[ubuntu] Re: Itrepid~snort error in terminal !

Kee you should really look through that terminal commands link I posted.

It makes it difficult for people to help you when you do not understand how to use a terminal, or what commands represent.

[ubuntu] Re: Itrepid~snort error in terminal !

After seeing that last post I think you may get some benefit from here: http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/linuxcommand.org/index.php

It appears that you are not quite comfortable with using the terminal yet.
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Simple method to send mail to an external email address?

Ive used sendmail and a little scripting to great effect, but sendemail has a few extra features that you should definitely be trying to use to avoid your particular issues.

Re: Why is there a program called Evolution in CE?

In the interests of fairness, Ubuntu can't choose the name of the programs. Developers do that.

Evolution has more than one meaning, and the monkey can be a pun on words.

    I kinda hope this was...

  11. [ubuntu] Re: New to web servers. Is Centos any safer than Ubuntu for ECommerce?

CentOS is better in my opinion for servers.

Its effectively Redhat rebadged with better package controls (so updates dont break things).

That being said, if you are comfortable with Ubuntu,...
