Re: BibleZ - new bible study application

There are a whole lot less of them for starters. In English there is an abundance of late 19th century translations which are reasonable enough today still. German has probably changed more than...

Re: BibleZ - new bible study application

    That is your prerogative.

As a (German) user I am as frustrated as you are. As a module maker and distributer I am bound by the law.

If Xefania or anyone else distributes stuff they have no...
  5. Inserting Bible texts anywhere with a key comb instead of long cuts and pastes

Someone on another thread asked about the ability to quote the Bible directly in OOo e.g.

The same thing came up in CrossWire-s sword-devel list and a simple rough and ready solution was posted...

    Ubuntu CE repos

Are the repos published anywhere and is it possible to use them without going the whole hog of a Ubuntu CE conversion? I.e. only make use of some of your packages and customisations?

    Thanks

    Re: e-sword moduals in xiphos

Assuming you are dealing with your very own content, stuff for which you have licences allowing data shifting or fair use rules in your country allow you to shift:

    e-sword 8 used access databases...
  10. Re: Is there any advantage installing e-sword over Xiphos?

You have made a number of very specific assertions which are demonstrably wrong.
To point this out in detail has little to do with flaming.

I will always prefer a open source programme to a...
  11. Re: Is there any advantage installing e-sword over Xiphos?

The legality of these resources is usually the defining one.

    1) Xiphos can create every single module form apart from "Bible" right within the programme.

    2) Creating modules for CrossWire...
  12. Re: Is there any advantage installing e-sword over Xiphos?

Complex Indic scripts can be displayed on Xiphos without problems. Everything that can be done by Pango can be done by Xiphos.

Export to PDF - all you need to do is to print what you want to print...
  13. Re: Is there any advantage installing e-sword over Xiphos?

There is a way to publish licensed translations and (for the publisher, not us) to make money from it - we will distribute an encrypted module, the publisher will sell the decryption key

    Whether...

There is a lot of stuff across the various official repos.

Depending on the licence of the...

Considering the tone of the original "request" and that maintaining a mirror will certainly require some effort and may well result in some significant costs....

  16. Re: Is there any advantage installing e-sword over Xiphos?

Show me one thing that e-sword does, that Xiphos does not do as well or better!

xiphos searches are: singleword, multiword, phrase, indexed, Strongs, morphology, custom ranges, multimodule,...

    Re: Study Resources Alternative

I am not sure which "competitors" you mean, but FWIW most open source projects in this area are heavily limited by what they can get hold of. Some are more, some less bothered by whether this can be...

[ubuntu] evolution and NHSnet (MS Exchange 2007)
