It is a precise ppa, but works fine in 12.10/13.04. A ppa is a better option than a .deb because it will update automaticly
echo ' deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/noneed4anick/cuttlefish/ubuntu...

Your money might be better spent this way...
1) keep your existing root drive.... like you said once it's booted you don't use it much
2) create yourself a spinning raid setup for your storage...
If you drop to a terminal and sudo nano /etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc and search <ctl>-w panel <enter> for $panel .... it'll be around line 169ish and tabbed in a bit. Just put a # in front of it and save...
Why not install 64 bit, then 32 bit ubuntu in a virtualbox?
If you want to boot into x you could put vlc xxx.avi in your startup apps, just be sure you configure vlc to go fullscreen and loop.
Scott
Install another instance of ubuntu in a virtualbox and run it in there.
You really don't want to do that...
Those parts of the file system are really for mostly no touchy. It asks you permission so you don't do something stupid on accident.
Try this... drop to a command line control-t if in unity (i think, i'm xfce)
then gksudo file-roller then try your stuff...
Let me know..

Assuming you are running a GUI, go to software center and install samba, or apt-get install system-config-samba. That is the easiest way to create persistent shares.
Couldn't you have just changed your router to 10.x.x.x being, say one ip higher than the modem? Just let the router act as a switch since that is what you are doing...
That service sounds nice. The Obi service is just using your google voice account so it is free. You can also use sip with Obi.
You should really look into google voice, assuming you are in the us or canada. I use it on my laptop and bought a device called an obi100 for home. saves me around $30 a month for a home phone.
It is the result of a bug.

Just delete them. You don't by any chance use ubuntu one do you?
Did you try looking at alsamixer from the command prompt?
F6 select your sound card and make sure it isn't muted... Had a similar problem with my $2 usb sound once
I wrote a little post on my blog about just that....

You can do the same thing, but with PCMANFM or from the command line, you nust need to edit and save files in the right locations
Might want to look here... looks promising...

You are using XFCE, so Thunar is your file manager, right?
Did you go to Edit -> Prefs _> File Manager Prefs and enable (and configue) volume managment?
There are several options available to you described in the link below...

Just shooting from the hip here, but worth a try, what if you kill network manager with sudo pkill -9 nm-applet ... then run gksudo nm-applet ??
Mabey.. but it won't hurt anything...
I googled around a bit and there seem to have been quite a few problems with network manager in 11.10 (I have wireless built in, but use wired so I never noticed) I know this is sorta a workaround,...
You already have the info filled (SSID, etc...) right?
Right click on the Network Manager icon in the tray Click Edit Connections
Click on the Wireless tab.
Click on your wireless network.
Click the Edit button
Click the "Available to all users" & ...
Cool... gotta try it..
Sorry for my ignorance.
