Hello All,
I have now rebooted my 20.04 box and the RAID1 array was lost.
Googled around, and it comes out that this can happen if the array is assembled with whole disks /dev/sdb, and not...
I am afraid I haven't gone further on the issue... so, I can't really tell why this happens.
Hello all,
I am trying to add a signature to a PDF file with Xournal.
1. launch Xournal
2. File/AnnotatePDF
3. Image/..add image
4. Export to PDF --> freezes
5. Print To File/PDF --> works
I should say no, because on the other machine it just works, i.e. I connect the camera and download the files.
well, I don't know... I use front ports on both pc, but I also tried different ports with no success.
Also, I am sure that I was able to mount the camera time ago, but something happened (an...
Hello All,
this is the scenario..

that's it! thanks.
sorry about the code tags, I wasn't aware.
sorry, I was too fast.. as soon as I recreate the array, the error comes back.
This is what I did...

sudo mdadm --stop /dev/md0
parted /dev/sdc
(parted) mklabel gpt...
ok, thanks Darkod,
all clear, mark as solved...
sorry, I wasn't able to express myself clearly... that's what I wanted to say... if I should go backwards, deleting the array first, and deleting the partition before I create the new GPT table.
this would imply deleting the array, or just formatting md0?
Hello All,
I am building a new server for storage.
Some say it is better to keep the system partition out of RAID, so I installed Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS on one 250GB disk, planning to manually...
as I learnt that alignment doesn't matter for mounting, I looked elsewhere.
Loading mdadm on a live CD did the trick, and I could pull data off the disks.
I assumed I could not mount the drive BECAUSE partitions were not properly aligned: am I wrong?
This array has been spinning for years, so I will replace the drives with 2x 4TB new ones.
...
Thanks, Oldfred,
I will try that.
I would like to preserve data on partitions 2 and 3: would it be useful to delete partitions 1 and 3 before alignment?
TheFu,
thanks for your kind reply.
the disks have been removed from the server because port 22 looks closed now, so no ssh access and no backup of data is possible.
I have gparted on my...

that's correct.
Well, no, no printers even with the previous kernel.
So what can I possibly have done to flush out 6 printers in a row?
thanks for your support.
Hello All,
I do not know if it is related, but suddenly I have no printers at all on my 12.04 LTS notebook.
If it has to do with yesterday's kernel upgrade, I should not be alone.
I had 6...
thanks for your kind reply.
I had thought so, but I can't figure which commands they shall need to execute.
Maybe I should ask THEM to prepare a modified sudoers file for my approval.

They plan to support us from remote using...
