I recently upgraded to Natty and am experiencing this same problem. Before I jump through all the hoops, do you suspect that these steps will solve the problem on Natty as well?
Try setting
bind_to_address "any"
in your mpd.conf file.
Note that smartctl doesn't report anything wrong with the drive, so it seems more likely that it's a controller, or a cable, or something like that. I'm currently running udisks --monitor-detail to...
Having just installed Lucid I've been keeping an eye on my system log to make sure all is well, and I started getting frequent SATA disk errors on one of my archive drives shortly after the...
I've been using Ubuntu for a long time, so this caught me by surprise.
I have a music server that I use to stream FLAC files to a Squeezebox and also do some light coding, internet browsing,...
Note that there are no Jaunty packages yet...are you using the version from the PPA? Can you post what it says when you add --debug 1 to the command-line options?
Erik
I have a music server that has 4 500 gb drives attached. Two of the drives are internal SATA drives, the other two are external USB drives. fstab:

I have a headless Hardy 64-bit machine that I use as my music server (Squeezecenter, etc) that I'd like to plug my ipod into to transfer some files. I use nomachine as my remote server/client, which...
I'd uninstall that version and install the new one :D

Uninstall the old one first, as there may be conflicts otherwise.
Are you sure you're running the version from the launchpad repository? The version in the standard ubuntu repositories is very old and takes much longer to download sheep.
Here's the Launchpad page - add the listed repositories to synaptic and then you'll be ready to install!
--Erik
Note that there is now a Launchpad repository with binaries for the flam3 and electricsheep packages. Simply add this line to sources.list (or to the repository list in synaptic)

Note: I did manage to get the flam3 package compiled with the proper optimization flags. Please update your flam3 packages as soon as possible to take advantage of these optimizations!

Two more updates for those of you interested:
First, the flam3 package was being build with -O2 instead of -O3 - this has been fixed, and these executables will render frames faster than the...
I just updated the package again - the gconf changes weren't being applied appropriately. electricsheep_2.7b5-0ubuntu1~ppa25 should be a fully functional package.
--Erik
Looks like I missed another file for the installation. I'll get that built tomorrow...check for updates in the morning. It'll be ~ppa24.
Make sure you're using version ~ppa22 - I didn't want to install multiple copies of the electricsheep exe all over the system (like in /usr/lib/xscreensaver) and I didn't realize that that was the...
Correct. The etch repos has 2.6.8, I believe, and the one in the Launchpad repos is 2.7b5.
If you're running this from the terminal, hit 'f' while the mplayer window is selected, and it'll go...
Note: These are still works in progress. I've identified a few issues with the gconf keys that I've just fixed, as well as some other issues, so there will be numerous builds over the next few days....
It works - but your problem is that you expect it to provide frames larger than 800x600. The frames are rendered one at a time and sent to a central server, which compiles the movies and sends them...
You could potentially convert them, but I think you'd be better off just enjoying the new feed (or concatentating them together yourself into movies, etc.) It'd be an awful lot of work and there'd...
First, I want to stress that while the linux client is in beta, it works extremely well right now. I can't recommend the new version enough - the new variations in flam3 make this version almost a...
I work with Scott Draves on the flame code and the screensaver (I'm the current flam3 render code maintainer). If you'd like to try the beta version of the screensaver to help us do debugging and...
