the microphone works fine in sound recorder but shows up in flash...

ah... this could be a problem.

i attempted to enable the nVidia driver which had been disabled, and again the computer hung upon initialization of ubuntu. this is potentially a serious video card...

this morning ubuntu decided not to load properly, so i went in to recovery mode and used the option there to reset X (as well as the other options).

long story short, it worked and ubuntu loaded...

also, i am accustomed to tetris but i don't like gnometris. i'm going to try a bunch of other tetris programs from the standard repository until i find one i like... eventually... maybe...

have been trying for the last few days to get gothic II working in wine.

gothic 2 would not allow me to install it because it would not allow the CDs to be removed and reinserted. i circumvented...

i solved this by reverting back to wine 1.1.0, in which it runs fine.

i can't make gothic II work and i've fiddled with it for rather a while.

i've found that this is a sound issue. with OSS disabled oblivion runs fine.

anybody else have oblivion not loading savegames under 1.1.1? it worked fine under 1.1.0.
