    I'm afraid Lubuntu doesn't use Alsa, but I may be wrong. If you want to upgrade, use an USB stick, install
    usb-creator-gtkand choose to upgrade, it's easier than download everything.

    pidgin-skype is a plugin to enable to connect to Skype using Pidgin, it's not a program itself.

    You can change it with Openbox Configuration Manager, check the 'windows' tab.

    sudo apt-get purge bcmwl-kernel-sourceand install the version from Quantal: http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal/bcmwl-kernel-source

    You need to reboot so the service can start. Then give it a try and check the temp again.

    Are you using bcmwl-kernel-source?
    Edit: Try installing this (http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal/bcmwl-kernel-source), it is what solved my issues with BCM4313.

    It seems that the Broadcom proprietary driver is broken for everyone with Raring. I fixed mine by installing bcmwl-kernel-source from Quantal.
