Re: No more snap for me.

Firefox snap has been reported as the default in Ubuntu 21.10, but in the just released beta (on Fri. the 24th), both the .deb and snap are installed by default. This may not be the case in the final...
  2. [all variants] Re: How to fix "Set the RESUME variable to override this" error/problem?

Do you mean the file /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume?
Mine uses a UUID. What does your file look like?
Where are the instructions you refer to?

The UUID in my file is for the swap partition.
  3. Re: Trouble nagivating to /home directory in terminal

To navigate to your home directory, realize that:
/home is not your home directory. It's actually /home/<username>, meaning it's /home/ishmael for the user in your screenshot.
    Your Desktop would...

[ubuntu] Re: Additional hard disk not showing

Assuming the stuff on sda is of no importance and can be erased, I would just use the partition editor to make a new GPT partition table on sda, and then create new ext4 partition(s) for Linux use.

Re: Firefox Snap as Default in 21.10

Re: Firefox Snap as Default in 21.10

I agree with this remark by ajgreeny. Also, no one has yet mentioned that Firefox comes as a Flatpak as well. I have been using that version in a number of installations for quite a while.

  10. Re: Sudden fatal error when running any VM with QEMU-KVM

You may need to use sudo to run that. At least that's true on Fedora, which I use as my WM host. Notice:

  11. Re: Dualboot with 2nd Linux distro (EFI + Grub)

These incorrect menuentries happen when the distros are not closely related and one probes the other to make a grub menuentry. Two Ubuntu-based distros would likely not do this.

    Re: 32bit download

As far as Ubuntu flavors, you have to go back to 18.04 releases to find any with some existing support. I know Ubuntu MATE has one - it's still on my own 32-bit laptop. The packages on it are no...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS Icons disappear from desktop display

  14. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS Icons disappear from desktop display

Check that the gnome-shell extension "Desktop Icons" is turned ON.
Search for and open 'Extensions' application where this can be done.

  16. Re: New Ubuntu 20 install on DELL AIO desktop - video problems

Only if you install 20.04 or 20.04.1 do you keep the 5.4 kernel. Otherwise, you have what is called the Hardware Enablement Stack (HWE) with kernel changing as your system reaches each new point...
  17. Re: New Ubuntu 20 install on DELL AIO desktop - video problems

Since the new 5.11 kernel appears suspect and your install is new, it might be easiest to just install Ubuntu 20.04.1, which has the 5.4 kernel.
Download and install from this iso:...

  22. [ubuntu] Re: How to adjust the size of top menu bar
