    No 5.1 audio via HDMI

    Hi all,

Seem to be having a recent problem getting 5.1 sound to work via HDMI. I am currently running Ubuntu 15.10 on an Intel NUC5i3RYH.

In short, what I am seeing is that I only seem to be...
  3. 15.10 - Center/Rear Channel Sound Stopped Working (HDMI)

    Hi all,

I have an Intel NUC connected to my TV via HDMI, with the TV connected to a 5.1 stereo receiver via SPDIF. Until recently, this setup worked well. About a week ago, I stopped getting...
  4. Re: Audio Distorted: Low pitch/slowdown (15.10 Intel NUC)

So, as an update--it definitely seems to be related to the video drivers, specifically the Intel Graphics for Linux drivers from https://01.org/linuxgraphics. I had installed these drivers from Intel...
  5. Re: Audio Distorted: Low pitch/slowdown (15.10 Intel NUC)

As an update to this, I'm not sure that it's not all of the video playing in slow motion, along with the audio.

Any thoughts? I do see that some graphics drivers were updated recently through...
  6. [SOLVED] Audio/Video Distorted: Low pitch/slowdown (15.10 Intel NUC)

    Hi all,

Seeing a strange problem on an Intel NUC box (NUC5i3RYH with a Broadwell i3 processor) running 15.10. Within the last day or so, all audio, whether from a video file, played from web (e.g....

[SOLVED] Re: Unable to boot from degraded RAID array?

Marking this solved--looks like the issue was simply the BIOS not properly failing over to the second drive. Manually forced it, then repaired the RAID array and reinstalled GRUB to sda.

    Thanks!
  8. [all variants] Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in 1 click!

Nevermind, I got it to work--turns out the BIOS just wasn't failing over to the second drive correctly. Did this, restored the RAID array, and reinstalled GRUB on sda.
  9. [all variants] Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in 1 click!

Question--I have an mdadm-based RAID array that had a drive fail (sda). I installed a new drive, but now cannot boot at all due to what looks like a missing MBR (more at...

[SOLVED] Re: Unable to boot from degraded RAID array?

Thanks. Guess I should clarify a bit--the new drive is totally bare, there is nothing on it. I literally put it in the machine with the intention of formatting, partitioning, and then adding to the...

[SOLVED] Unable to boot from degraded RAID array?

I have a home server running 10.04 configured with an mdadm-based RAID array. The boot and /home partitions are both on RAID-1 arrays, and I have a large data partition on RAID-5. There are three...

  13. [SOLVED] Re: Grub2 error: "Loading Operating System... Read Error"

OK, I got it working--by flashing my motherboard BIOS. Not sure what was going on. I noticed some other flaky stuff going on (e.g. sometimes when rebooting I couldn't get into the BIOS to change boot...
  14. [SOLVED] Re: Grub2 error: "Loading Operating System... Read Error"

OK, results are at the following location: http://paste.ubuntu.com/789861/

  15. [SOLVED] Re: Grub2 error: "Loading Operating System... Read Error"

Just tried purging and reinstalling (installed to all disks); same thing still happening. Sigh.

Here is the output of the ls:

    ls -l /dev/disk/by-id/ | grep sd
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9...
  16. [SOLVED] Re: Grub2 error: "Loading Operating System... Read Error"

Running those commands does show the files--the kernel and initrd files for /boot, and the mod and cfg files for /boot/grub.

What I don't understand is why it would work with the USB key inserted,...
  17. [all variants] Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in 1 click!

OK, done. Hopefully someone will be able to figure this out... It's got me baffled.

  18. [SOLVED] Grub2 error: "Loading Operating System... Read Error"

    Hi all,

I recently had to reinstall Windows on my machine, which obviously took over the MBR. So I booted to a live-disk (on a USB key), then ran boot-repair to re-install Grub on all of the MBRs....
  19. [all variants] Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in 1 click!

Ugh, still nothing--tried setting SDC and SDB as first boot disk in BIOS, and it still gave me the "Loading operating system... Read Error" if the USB key wasn't inserted... Sigh.
  20. [all variants] Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in 1 click!

I believe it installed to all of the drives. I'm set to boot from SDA, which is my SSD first. Should this be changed?
  21. [all variants] Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in 1 click!

    Thanks for the help!
  22. [all variants] Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in 1 click!

Thanks. Unfortunately, that doesnt seem to be working either--booted up into Ubuntu, ejected the USB key, ran grub-install on /dev/sda (SSD drive that has my Windows install on it), ran update-grub,...
  23. [all variants] Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in 1 click!

OK, I've got an interesting issue.

  24. [ubuntu] Re: 11.10 - Change time to dim screen when idle?

Thank you! This was driving me nuts...

It's a bit silly that you've got to install a tool in order to change these simple settings.
