    Re: SSO Sign-In

I'm aware of that. But lots of other forums DO safely redirect, post login. So we have a "workaround" that is not useful for my purposes and a coupe of fairly irrelevant excuses.

    SSO Sign-In

Upfront, just want to say the Ubuntu Website/Community are one of the best out there. Now a minor nit-pick: Since we seem to insist on logging out users after some inactivity timeout, might it not...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Dual NIC server, two switches, 1 port per, can they talk?

But why? What's the point? Or "goal" as t'were. You are setting up a whole new network, hardware and all for what amounts to by your own admission, an insignificant amount of traffic.
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Dual NIC server, two switches, 1 port per, can they talk?

But you're not. It's on the same machine in the same network. It sounds like all you are doing is making it more complicated than it needs to be.

What does logical separation buy you?
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Dual NIC server, two switches, 1 port per, can they talk?

This is your bottleneck with the traffic pattern described. The 24-port switch fabric is your limiting factor. No amount of slicing and dicing whatever is connected to it will improve throughput. ...

    [ubuntu] Re: installing snort

You could put a small switch with span port between your cable modem and whatever you wish to monitor and watch the span port.

[ubuntu] Re: 12.04 Suddenly Reeeeally Slow

What does the hard drive activity look like during the slowdown? It may be bogging down into excessive swap activity if you are running too many programs for the available RAM to effectively support.
  12. Re: Most recent update to Chromium through the unofficial PPA is completely unusable

The Chromium update I installed last week from the normal Ubuntu repositories is v23.0.1271.97.

Seems pretty stable, so I'm a Chromium user again. I had switched to Firefox sometime last fall...

Is there a Starbucks or something nearby with free WiFi you could test your PC with, for comparison purposes?

Re: Unity may be unfit BUT Modern UI is Worse

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Ever heard of eBay? Or Craigslist?

I believe your definition of "e-waste" is a bit broad. And the green angle revolves not around any egregious...

Re: Unity may be unfit BUT Modern UI is Worse

Is this a perception of yours, or can you you cite a study or any relevant research that quantifies these statements?

The OP's post is perfectly on point. Microsoft is clearly in the throes of an...

    Re: the mess at msft

Yes, integration in all things consumer-electronic. I thought it interesting none in the row of shiny new laptops I saw sporting Metro on display recently in Costco had touch screens.

[ubuntu] Re: RAID 10 failure, how to recover data?

The reason you never installed any driver before is because the installer did it for you automagically. That is why I earlier suggested following the original install/ rescue path (with the 10.04...
