    [ubuntu] Latest Kernels Not Booting

Installed available updates today, including a new package of headers and kernels. Saw that my boot partition was full, so went to clear out some of the old ones. I've been doing that manually and...

    Re: Flare RPG

At the risk of gravedigging, I just downloaded Flare after hearing some good things about it and feeling an itch for some Diablo-esque gameplay. It looks pretty good, but yeah, there is zero...

[ubuntu] Re: No Way to Navigate (Unity)

That worked. However, looking at the log-in screen, it's telling me I've still got 12.04. I tried using just "Ubuntu", but logging in with that didn't fix my taskbar issue. So I did it again and...

[ubuntu] Re: No Way to Navigate (Unity)

But how do I log out without any of the taskbars? When I do a reboot I go straight into Unity without needing to log in, and miss the chance to choose.

[ubuntu] No Way to Navigate (Unity)

I just ran updates from the manager. After getting a lot of error messages while in that process, everything took and now my system boots as quick and as clean as it ever has. So that's nice.

[ubuntu] Re: Error: Headers Cannot Install

Thanks for the help. I cleaned out a lot of the old kernels, enabling me to complete that install. It is also good knowledge to have going forward. As well I updated grub2. Hoping that future reboots...

[ubuntu] Re: Error: Headers Cannot Install

And I just delete them all, save for the latest batch (3.2.0-29, in my case)?

I'd assumed they were removed upon upgrade. Shows what I know.

Where would I find these old kernel headers? I suspect i have a lot of such clutter, but am not sure where to go.

    [ubuntu] Error: Headers Cannot Install

I am trying to install the latest headers and kernels using the Update Manager. Getting an error telling me that the generic headers cannot install as there is no room. It needs 11 MB. I've got 285...

Update: after having posted the above on my phone, I rebooted one more time and got results. So while the main issue is "solved", that still leaves me with the issue of not trusting Ubuntu to boot...

    [ubuntu] Boot failure after update

I just updated the latest package that was available with the manager. Headers and whatnot. Was prompted to restart the system, which I did. Ubuntu tries to load but all I get is the blank purple...

[ubuntu] Boot failure after latest kernel upgrades

First off, a little bit of history, as I am unsure what exactly my issue is and have had a few since upgrading to 12.04:

During the upgrade process I ran out of room on my drive, despite the prior...

[ubuntu] Re: VLC Being a Jerk in 12.04

[ubuntu] Re: VLC Being a Jerk in 12.04

I'm unclear on how to go about doing a clean install. I've got Natty 11.04 on a flash drive that I've been tempted to use again, or even just re-do 12.04, but I don't know where to find it.

    And...

[ubuntu] Re: VLC Being a Jerk in 12.04

As a bump, I've got an ATI RS690 card (Radeon x1200). In looking around, I don't think I want the Gallium 0.4 drivers for that, but have no idea how to change them.

What clued me in was that I...

I'm using the onboard card of a Gigabyte S-series. Ubuntu tells me the graphics are "Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 0x300)".

[ubuntu] Re: VLC Being a Jerk in 12.04

That worked in that the icon is no longer stuck in the taskbar after I shut down the program, but all other issues remain.

I also installed libdvdcss, to no effect.

[ubuntu] Re: VLC Being a Jerk in 12.04

    libvlccore4 was not installed.

Deleting the VLC folder showed initial promise, as I was then able to pause and restart the video, but going to full screen it completely froze.

[ubuntu] VLC Being a Jerk in 12.04

Just upgraded today, and found that my VLC didn't take the change too well.
