[ubuntu] Re: upgrade to 2.6.24-19 disables wireless card

Upgrading Ubuntu to version 8 (HH) and kernel 2.6.24-19 also disabled my wireless. This is a laptop with a standard Intel WiFi chipset.

My solution was to use the alternate boot and boot with...
  2. Poll: Re: Share with the community your gutsy install/upgrade experience

Worked but more problems that the Feisty install.

    - Graphics card ATI X1600 mobility, was not working out of the box, some command line voodoo needed to make it really work. I was stuck with no 3D...
  3. Poll: Re: Share with the community your gutsy install/upgrade experience

I was going to suggest a solution: Why not use the CD image for upgrades?

Everyone can torrent the CD image, server capacity is not a problem there. At the same time, the CD image is guaranteed...
  4. Re: If ubuntu doesn't support ATI, please say so!

  7. Re: If ubuntu doesn't support ATI, please say so!

I am sorry, but that's a retarded statement. I am hoping you are not working for ubuntu. If you were, maybe you should read the tagline - "linux for human beings".

As for the "waste of time"...
  8. If ubuntu doesn't support ATI, please say so!

Hi, I tried ubuntu 6.10 on my laptop and I was impressed - I would love to run this full time. I would much rather switch to that than to Vista, which I also tried and which has left me rather...

Poll: Re: Poll : Better Software and Hardware support

The question is, why should they. I am going to post another thread on this - ubuntu is the first linux distro that I want to install, badly.

However, it has a miniscule market share and hardware...
