  1. Re: Can't broswe Windows Shares from Ubuntu

For one: You don't want the following line in smb.conf:

That tells the samba client that the highest smb dialect to use when it connects to a server is SMB1 ( samba calls it NT1 ). WIn10 disables...

Re: Local network sharing config issue

The "noauto,x-systemd.automount" will fix the fstab is executed before the network is up problem but it doesn't fix your new issue. Once it is mounted it stays mounted. If your server goes away it...

Re: Local network sharing config issue

Regrettably you will have to change that mount point to be something like /mnt/share/Documents. automounters and things under /media and $HOME don't play well together.

Then you need to add two...

I'm not sure I understood that either ....... So you are creating a cifs mount on the client of the same server that has the shares? Um ... I guess that would work. It's may be more out of the box...

Re: Local network sharing config issue

Nope. For every usershare you create in Files you will also need to do this:

    sudo chown :plugdev /folder-being-shared
    sudo chmod 2775 /folder-being-shared

    Nope. It's what I said:

That depends entirely on the full extent of your use case.

Re: Local network sharing config issue

Local Network Share creates Samba Usershares. They are not defined in smb.conf. They are defined in /var/lib/samba/usershares. You can see how all of these shares are defined with this command:

    In a terminal:

    sudo -H gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf
I'm guessing here you are using Ubuntu since you didn't specify.
  17. Re: SMB client (Cx File Explorer) can't access shared folder

There is no way to do that on a samba usershare.

This is a legitimate samba usershare:

It will require that you access the share as "me" unless you do what I posted above.
  18. Re: SMB client (Cx File Explorer) can't access shared folder

The "me" there is the issue.

Linux sets up this mount point path in such a way that only "me" can get to whatever is beyond it.

You can either access the share with "me" and the corresponding...
