  1. [SOLVED] Re: 3 SATA and 3 USB HDDs no longer mount at boot

Hi again. I tried many things, and eventually I found a bad sector on the SSD, which is 8 years old. I spent 28 pounds on a 480Gbyte one made by Crucial, and here I am back on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS...
  2. [SOLVED] Re: 3 SATA and 3 USB HDDs no longer mount at boot

I don't use halt day-to-day , this was a special case where other things failed., I use xfce4-session-logout normally,
  3. [SOLVED] Re: 3 SATA and 3 USB HDDs no longer mount at boot

Thank you for your reply and your time. As I said, the only shutdown command that "worked" was halt, so I wasn't too surprised to see the SYS fan spinning despite having shut down. I held the power...

[xubuntu] Re: Commands for Home, End, PgUp, PgDn

Actually you can skip the xbindkeys part and use the GUI keyboard mapper you mentioned, so you just need the xdotool part as the command to run. Try reducing the sleep command delay or even removing...

[xubuntu] Re: Commands for Home, End, PgUp, PgDn

Be brave, but cautious. Here's one way to do it. The response time is 300ms so hammering keys will fail. Skip to the end for 'monkey see monkey do' file you can edit and run.

    xbindkeys is a...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 requires me to login twice

FWIW I think you can work around this by closing all windows before logout. Over the space of a year I've monitored this carefully, it looks like something to do with saving or restoring the session....

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 requires me to login twice

    It's back again.

Worryingly, one attempt took several retries.

The desktop appears, the desktop stutters, a drum sound is heard, then user is dumped back to login screen.

    I don't autostart...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 requires me to login twice

    That's a shame.

Mine start off mirrored, then after login form a desktop with 1920x1080 next to 1680x1050 - now that is cool because 1080 != 1050. I don't think the mirroring is a bug, but a...

    Hi.

I'm on 14.04 LTS, software is up to date, I have the issue and I first noticed it on 26/11/2015. It happens at 34s after boot (i7) when the Xserver apparently restarts without error so Oinos'...
