    No means am I a Linux expert but it almost looks like you dont have admin rights wehn you run the smbldap-populate are you doing it as root? If not you may try that, or do a sudo when you run it.

    I believe that the first two lines will always appear as long as you are getting the 100% on the end I believe you should be good to go.

    I am by no means an expert when it comes to this but I had a similiar issue, make sure that when you edit the smbldap_bind.conf that you are typing in the correct password. Hope that helps.

    Think I found 2 more errors in the code block, for the init.ldif, you have
    dn: ou=Idmap, dc=example,dc=localobject
    Class: organizationalUnit
    And I think it should be
    dn: ou=Idmap,...
