    Rufus was an exe file. Etcher for the win. ISO file to boot-able USB stick in less than 5 minutes, an the Lubuntu 18.04.5 booted right up on the Compaq Presario CQ50.

    USB boot attempt has been at a black screen with a blinking underscore cursor now for 20+ minutes, I suspect the boot-able USB is wrong again.

    Unhooked wifi connectors, re-connected them (on the Compaq Presario laptop) and got the internet connection working;
