    there is some software wich does the same as my first post but you can set it up to run a specified times. And it has a nice gui too.
    Unfortunately I can't remember the name.

    The fixed width has to go. I'm reading this on a 17" crt (and almost everyone has a bigger screen nowadays) and I find that the borders just annoying.

    in what folder where you when you executed the command?
    if you literally followed the guide, it should be in the directory from where you executed the command.

    don't forget you have to edit the /etc/fstab file with the correct mappings to your filesystem.
