Well I tried upgrading to 12.10 64 bit and the same problem exists. I guess if no one will fix the problem, I will have to stick wiith 12.04 32 bit until 13.04 comes out.

Well here I am again in 2013 and still no answer to my problem. I just can't believe that someone else hasn't encountered the same problem with 64 bit mencoder.
Please help ! :(
Some people believe the problem is with divxenc so I have done more testing using divxenc and the 32 bit test and the 64 bit created the same mencoder command line but the 32 bit ran and the 64 bit...
I still have not solved this problem. Surely someone else had this problem or has an idea.
The latest version of LMDE 64 bit also is problem.

I have just completed upgrading from 8.04 to 9.10 incrementally with great success. I stayed with 8.04 because it was LTS and I worried about the problems I would get into with upgrade procedures.
