  1. Re: btnx: Send keyboard and mouse combination events with mouse buttons

If you gave more information on what exactly is wrong perhaps we could help :)

Its very easy trust me, but im not sure where your problem lies. It may be as simple as simply getting bindbutton to...
  2. Re: btnx: Send keyboard and mouse combination events with mouse buttons

    Sorry :)

Open up your terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), and run the command.

In the case of it automatically working, you'll need to something like what ubersoft mentioned. I will...
  3. Re: btnx: Send keyboard and mouse combination events with mouse buttons

To get an output from Tom's program you need to run it with the debug option. So:

DEBUG=1 bindbutton [your bind stuff here]
  4. Re: btnx: Send keyboard and mouse combination events with mouse buttons

    Thanks!

Now onto this button bind thing. I got it working for me in tests (Shift on Button 8), which is awesome. What is the normal method for this to be used though? Where would you put this...
  5. Re: btnx: Send keyboard and mouse combination events with mouse buttons

Ugh. I hate how 8.10 screwed the pooch on this. I actually heard 8.10 had _better_ mx revolution support out of the box, but in Hardy btnx worked for me out of the box.. in Intrepid i can't get...
  6. Re: btnx: Send keyboard and mouse combination events with mouse buttons

I've got the same issue. Anyone seen a solution yet?
  7. [ubuntu] Mouse Buttons, What dictates a buttons ability to "Hold"?

Well after a ton of effort, i damn near have all of my mx revolution woes taken care of, except one. The Middle Mouse Remap.

Now remapping the buttons themselves is easily done via xmodmap,...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: MX Revolution, is there a working solution yet?

Ok, i was complaining more, but then all of a sudden i seemed to have the result i was looking for.. oddly enough.

I believe it is still believed to be impossible, no?

    (This post for example,...

Ok, just got home. Seems this is my code:

Re: HOWTO: Compile the latest ffmpeg and x264 from source

I actually have, many times. I tried custom names, same error. Note that when i used custom names, upon removal, i made sure to sudo aptitude purge the names i gave them (and even the normal names,...

Re: HOWTO: Compile the latest ffmpeg and x264 from source

Ugh, im so bummed heh. I spent forever finding the right combinations of h264 settings and finally got everything right. Now i made the mistake of updating (apt-get update) and it just trashed my...

Re: HOWTO: Compile the latest ffmpeg and x264 from source

    Great tutorial!

I got it all working i believe, but i've got two questions:

1.) I've been trying many different combinations, but so far i have had no luck in creating a quicktime compatible...
  14. [ubuntu] Re: MX Revolution, is there a working solution yet?

No luck so far with that config. Infact with that config, even the bottons that did work are not haha. I'll continue to toy though.

But yea.. this is horrible on Linux. I've wasted 6 hours of my...
  15. [ubuntu] Re: IMWheel, Can it be used to create a modifier key? (Such as holding down Alt?)

bah, my hopes were so high :o.

Still no luck man. I can ofcourse make the a key print 500 lines, but while holding the Shift_L command and typing, it does not make anything uppercase.

    Infact it...
  16. [ubuntu] Re: MX Revolution, is there a working solution yet?

Interesting! Using BtnX correct? The thing is, i was unable to, then i actually read the developer saying that this was impossible, so i gave up on btnx. I'll give btnx anther shot when i get home,...
  17. [ubuntu] Re: MX Revolution, is there a working solution yet?

I've had no luck, because btnx is useless for my needs. It does not have the ability to "hold" a button, so holding alt/shift/ctrl is impossible.

Thus far it seems IMWheel cannot do this holding...
  18. [ubuntu] Re: IMWheel, Can it be used to create a modifier key? (Such as holding down Alt?)

Yea, and that works fine, the problem is that is not a standalone modifier. Heck, thats not even holding down a button, that is a "Once Repeated Button". If you try to hold down any of the buttons,...
  19. [ubuntu] IMWheel, Can it be used to create a modifier key? (Such as holding down Alt?)

Well, i've gotten IMWheel to work with my MX Revolution, but alas, it seems unable to hold down a key such as holding down Thumb1 to hold down Alt, or Shift.

Is it possible to create a thumb...
  20. [ubuntu] Re: MX Revolution, is there a working solution yet?

Heh, i have none (but then again.. this is a thread of questions and no answers, not sure why you thought you'd find answers here ;P).

But its a good bump for my question aswell. heh :o

    I...
  21. Re: btnx: Send keyboard and mouse combination events with mouse buttons

Yea, i also have the _need_ for holding buttons down.Sadly i need to find an alternative to BTNX since not being able to have holding modifiers (holding ctrl/alt/shift) on my mouse is of little use...
  22. Re: btnx: Send keyboard and mouse combination events with mouse buttons

Is Btnx dead? It seems activity for it has gone down. I'd be happy to donate to it if i saw some acivity heh.

Also, whats the status on accepting modifier keys? Thats basically my numberone...
  23. Re: btnx: Send keyboard and mouse combination events with mouse buttons

Has anyone tried http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=277388 with Ubuntu 8.04?

BTNX does not have functionlity i need (the "holding" of buttons, and mapping of standalone modifier buttons), so...
  24. [ubuntu] Re: MX Revolution, is there a working solution yet?

Heh no idea.. i dont know anything about making the MX Revolution work in ubuntu, if i did i wouldn't be here asking hehe.

Although for me, BTNX works. It detected my MX Rev fine, and revoco...
