  1. [ubuntu] Re: When will the iptables 1.8.7 will be available as "apt update/upgrade"

    https://wiki.debian.org/nftables

Debian is moving toward the above so I don't expect iptables will get any more updates. I'd be surprised if Ubuntu didn't follow suit soon.
  2. Windows 10 WU Drivers optimized better than manufacturer release?

I am running a pci pass through Windows 10 vm via KVM. It's been working wonderfully. For awhile I was hitting an error where the graphics would die then come back after a minute or so. Event 4101....

  4. [ubuntu] Re: Installing ubuntu 20 in a Desktop with no VGA port

I've never heard of this one. In my case the only time I didn't have video from my video card was when I forgot to plug in the external power connector. Did you try both ports? First thing I'd check....
  5. [all variants] Re: Run a flatpak with firejail-like --overlay-tmpfs?

If you have a local repo when you create the image yes. It will just run. Look up what a Docker file is. Once it's built via the Docker file you can just run it with a terminal command, which could...
  6. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to install libdvd-pkg. Broken packages.

    Thank you much. Solved.
  7. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to install libdvd-pkg. Broken packages.

That seems to have done it. It installed just fine right now.

Leaves the question though. Why did it need to be done in the first place? Where did it get the higher/wrong versions?
  8. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to install libdvd-pkg. Broken packages.

    :~$ ./pyapt.py
    libc-bin 2.31-0ubuntu9.3
    libc6 2.31-0ubuntu9.3
    libc6-dbg 2.31-0ubuntu9.3
    locales 2.31-0ubuntu9.3

    That's what it gave me.
  9. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to install libdvd-pkg. Broken packages.

I don't know. This has been out since April of last year? I have doubts I'm the first person to hit it, unless there was an update recently. It's really odd. I am inching toward just putting Windows...

  11. [all variants] Re: Run a flatpak with firejail-like --overlay-tmpfs?

Docker by it's nature is immutable. You create an image and it doesn't change. Whatever you do is lost when the container is stopped. There are ways to put browsers into them.

  12. [all variants] Re: Run a flatpak with firejail-like --overlay-tmpfs?

Im curious what app you are trying to run. Docker may be more appropriate?

  15. [SOLVED] Re: VirtualBox unusable graphics when run over ssh -X

  16. Re: Ubuntu - Docker Desktop with Pulseaudio

Google docker gui and go nuts. What you are asking may not be possible. I'm not sure you understand exactly what Docker is. Maybe Firejail or something?

    Re: Linux migration

I'm curious what is the primary use of these machines. You may be able to look at a network booted solution altogether. I used LTSP at home. The main developers are people in the Greek school system....

  19. Re: Minecraft Dedicated server problem ?

More likely an isp problem. Do you have a static ip / business package with them? With a static ip you get ports unblocked. Just because they are open on your router doesn't mean the isp lets them...

[ubuntu] Re: crontab @reboot fails to run

  21. Re: Help? 14.04 freezes/unfreezes every 5 secs after snapd install

You need to run supported software for any real help here. 14.04 went EOL 2 years ago. That was when you "needed" to upgrade.

[Other Ubuntu/Debian based] Re: User login in LTSP Servert

I think you misunderstand how LTSP users work. It imports the /etc/{passwd|group|shadow} from the host. So you don't create users in the image rather you use users that exist on the server. Even if...

[Other Ubuntu/Debian based] Re: User login in LTSP Servert

    Post your /etc/ltsp/ltsp.conf

I had trouble with the default sshfs for /home/"$USER". Switching to nfs for /home solved my issues. I never checked if that was resolved as I stopped using LTSP...
  24. Re: Cronjob not honoring time range

You are setting it to include every 10 mins for 9pm as well. This would be the way to do it.

  25. Re: Avoiding snap with Ubuntu 16.04 ESM sudo ua attach?

No you are not. You are simply being pushed in the direction the distro wants to go. It is not a sinister plot. Things change and we change with them or we move on to one that doesn't. There is a...
