    [ubuntu] Re: efibootmgr questions

You only boot in UEFI mode from the ubuntu entry.
Unless your other entries are BIOS (which they cannot be), you would not be able to boot.
Grub only can boot other installs in same boot mode, so...

    Re: New install Ubuntu 20.10

In UEFI, if you remove a drive, it forgets the UEFI boot entry.
You have to manually add it back in with efibootmgr.

If external drives, you need an ESP on every drive, so UEFI can boot...

  6. [SOLVED] Re: Struggling to install Ubuntu 20.04 LTS to newly built PC

Do not recommend MBR(msdosl) & BIOS boot, but if it works for you that is ok.

  7. [ubuntu] Re: How do grub/ Ubuntu/ grub.cfg interact during boot ?

    You have 7 grub2s.
Each install has its own grub, but only one is the default boot at any one time.
But if you boot into another install & it updates grub, then it will become the default boot.

  8. [kubuntu] Re: Original Windows installation to avoid warranty being voided

As far as I know the Intel RST/RAID will not work with desktop installer.
Or you have to change to AHCI.
  9. [kubuntu] Re: Original Windows installation to avoid warranty being voided

Linux does not use Windows system reserved, so you can also delete p2.

Only if partitioning in advance for Windows would you then add a system reserved before first NTFS partitions. Windows...
  10. [ubuntu] Re: How do grub/ Ubuntu/ grub.cfg interact during boot ?

Now Ubuntu can update some UEFI if vendor uses fwupd.

  11. [kubuntu] Re: Original Windows installation to avoid warranty being voided

I saw a while back that Windows was going to add a small recovery partition after the main install. And that could cause issues.
That may just be the partition you show as recovery.

    Windows...
  12. [SOLVED] Re: Replaced 1TB HDD (non system drive) with 4TB, can't use same mount point?

Not sure if this will show anything or not, if sdb or change to your drive:
    sudo gdisk -l /dev/sdb

Best to use Windows tools for Windows & Linux tools for Linux.
But I prefer gparted or gdisk...

Re: How to mount an external drive on 20.04 ?

I do not have any loop devices.
In bootinfoscript, now mostly part of Boot-Repair they added this:

  15. [ubuntu] Re: How do grub/ Ubuntu/ grub.cfg interact during boot ?

I used # to add code tags to your terminal output.
Also better to exclude loops as the are not really devices.
