Yeah...you should be able to remove that distro if you put it on a different partition in gparted...just get it through the software center and locate the partition in gparted and delete it...then...

Yeah I agree...If your going to be gone...just shut the computer down if you don't want it to be on the whole time...I think Ubuntu loads up fast enough that it shouldn't cause any problems for...

You probably didn't set a password for the root user...try this:

In terminal



sudo passwd root


This should allow you to create a password for the root user

I took the laptop pretty much all apart..took off all fans and cleaned them...also removed the thick layers of dust on the heat sink of the processor.
