Perfect! I installed the standard indicator applet and placed it alongside the clock applet. Much better.

Idk how the key binding is for you, but for me the default is Super+Tab, NOT Alt+Tab.

My tip: don't be discouraged!

Chances are, if you're having a particular problem, you're not alone. Just don't be afraid of fixing/installing things through the Terminal.
