    we actually run a script which sets all those variables so that we make apache use those particular files we want.. The sites enabled files are moved to that path.. and we have many virtual hosts...

    yea .. i did save it.. restarted the system to be completely sure..

    checked the xorg.conf file after restart.. and it was saved .. but had no effect of changing the resolution though :(
