    Ah, the trick apparently was to use "Save as Default" at the bottom of the Size and Orientation screen under Display and Monitor.

    I feel kind of stupid, but this is a very unintuitive user...

    I'm having the exact same problem! I have to manually change the resolution and the dual-monitor configuration every time I boot up. Did you ever resolve the problem? I'll let you know if I do.
