I posted in this thread on May 1:st and filed a bug report and tried to find solutions. Found none.

I ended up switching over to another Linux distribution during May. No problems at all since...

    Re: Beginner Programming Challenge 14

I saw the math and fell asleep. Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

I belong to the apparently few who enjoy programming but not math.

Both math and programming is problem solving, but for me, one is...

Its necessary to have a monetary system in our current state of development, and while its creating a lot of evil things, its also a force of motivation. People used to be motivated to find food so...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Preserving list of installed software on upgrade

If you want to do a clean install, you have to reinstall all programs. Thats what a clean install means - to start from scratch.

If you dont want that, just do a ordinary system update instead.

  12. [ubuntu] Re: What is the best version of Linux OS?

If you have to ask, you want a newbie friendly distribution such as Ubuntu or Linux Mint. Dont think they are not good because they are easy. Its quite the opposite. They are REALLY good.

  13. [ubuntu] Re: How to find an IP address of somebody in the same network?

If you know the hostname, you can just ping it:

    $ ping hackbox
PING hackbox ( 56(84) bytes of data.
    64 bytes from hackbox ( icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.014 ms

Firefox. Superior extensions and themes compared to Chrome, and the speed difference for rendering web pages is not noticeable enough to be factor for me. It starts faster than Firefox though.

I would if I could, but I know nothing about that. Someone else may be able to help though.
  19. [ubuntu] Re: What do I have to do to add some lines to "~/.bashrc"?

Just dont type sudo ahead of the command and it will be executed as you. :)

    Like you did here:

    nano ~/.bashrc

That runs the nano command as you. Your user will always run all commands you...
  20. [ubuntu] Re: What do I have to do to add some lines to "~/.bashrc"?

Its not dangerous to use sudo. All it does it execute the command as root instead of you. In this case it doesnt make any difference since both you and root will have write access to the file since...
