I've never had an "angry" new user show up and start popping off at the mouth rude demanding help in person. Everytime someone needed something it has always been very friendly. I think online,...
I think you uninstalled your graphics card driver. You will need to reinstall it and then try again.
I dont know of any way to move the Unity launcher to the bottom in 12.04. If you really must have it then I would suggest Cairo-dock + mac theme and then set the unity launcher to hide.
Just proves how terrible and inept the judiciary branch is...
Log out and when you log back in choose Ubuntu 2-D from your choice of sessions. If it stops freezing it could be a graphics driver. If the freezes continue it is something else, maybe bad RAM or...
Thank you. Faenza-blue-dark-2 icons worked. They look nice with a dark panel as do elefaenza blue. So I am using GnomishDark as GTK theme and Atolm and the window theme.
I've been trying out Unity. The only issue I've been having is trying to theme it. I like dark themes and they aren't taking too well. I don't know if I'm just not using a good one or what.

The only "more love" for Xfce I would like to see is for it to be more up to date. For example, when Xubuntu was released Xfce was at 4.08. When Mint Xfce released a month later it came with Xfce...
I learned computer science throughtout school. Learned how to get around and the basics in middle school on some really old school Mac's and then later in high school I learned C++. Keep in mind that...
That's exactly my whole argument. No way Unity makes it to Red Hat. I'd bet my house on that. I tried using it in Fedora and it was a pain in the butt to install and it wasn't stable either.
The...
How did you add those short cuts? It sound like there is no command for them to use. Can you launch any other default app from the dock? If you can, then what you added is most likely an empty...
I highly recommend to only install software from Ubuntu repositories with Ubuntu Software Center. If you insist on outside software than .debs should work for the most part. RPM's will not work and...
I've been using Fedora with Cinnamon since its been available.
Fedora is shipping Mate in the repositories for Fedora 18 if it is fully available by the time the release rolls around. It may or...
You mean much like Ubuntu with its "Unity" protest......
Debian going to Xfce would be cool. I don't think they would do it for the speed of Xfce, I think it would be for the functionality and...
I just tried installing Unity of Fedora 17....
It didn't work. That repo broke yum or something. It wanted to update stuff that didn't exist so I am guessing there is some kind of dependancy...
The short answer is no one is.
The better answer is whoever wants to port it over. There just isn't that many people willing to do it. I heard like 1 guy was going to work on porting it to Fedora...
Did you check the box "Available to all users?" It could be a permissions problem. Try that box and then try to save it. Also, if you can click apply that should also save it.
I like Fedora a lot and I use it everyday. From what I understand Unity has been available for some time already, since at least January I think...
Fedora has always been Gnome centric and I doubt...
Xubuntu session loads a bunch of Xubuntu specific stuff. XFCE session loads a more vanilla Plain Jane xfce. The xubuntu session has extra configurations.
Which file manager are you using?
You are not going to get the old Windows interface though. In Windows 8 you have Metro which is the default, but the old UI is still not even there. If you go to it, there is no 'start' menu. It is a...
What didn't work exactly? The terminal commands?
Would you post the output of
lspci so we can get some more information about your system?
I don't understand how that is supposed to work for a Linux box. Doesn't it need a root password to do damage or is it just going to sit around and mess with whatever a normal user can do?
