    Thanks for the help guys. I'm still working on it, and I'm preparing a final solution in case I can't get it to work: starting over and installing 11.10, since reviews on the adapter say it works out...

    No joy. I installed the deb package and rebooted the machine, but there's no change with the wireless adapter.
