    [all variants] Re: Adobe Flashplayer

I want to mark this thread as SOLVED, how do I do this?

The issue about about flash updating itself has been fixed for me. Thanks to all who helped.

    [all variants] Re: Adobe Flashplayer

My mistake, after some investigation it seemed that Chrome had found the flashplayer.so I had put in /home/user/.mozilla/plugins, and now firefox has done this too.
    Two positives though, updates...

    [all variants] Re: Adobe Flashplayer

I've done all this, but the flashplayer has now reverted to Gnash, and the same has happened in Chrome. Gnash seems to work ok, but is jumpy when small, and unwatchable in fullscreen mode.

    I'm not...

    [all variants] Re: Adobe Flashplayer

Up till now, I've been replacing the flashplayer.so file in /usr/lib/flashplayer-installer with v 11.1. I have realised that there are several locations where browsers can 'find' the plugin.
    Also,...

    [all variants] Re: Adobe Flashplayer

I have found that Chrome uses the plugin that the system has installed. When I removed Flash, and then did a fresh install of Chrome, it complained that the plugin was missing.

    Thanks for replying.

It's not just ATI cards, I use Nvidia FX5700's, with or without the proprietory drivers, and get the same issues. I also use an old system
    (Sempron 2400, VIA KT600 chipset)....

    [all variants] Adobe Flashplayer

OK. I know v 11.2 is problematic, and how to revert to v11.1 to get things working again.

I'm just wondering whether 11.2 works on any 'buntu setup (or other linux), if not, why is it still...

[kubuntu] Re: *buntu 10.10 xorg and nvidia problem

The drivers are not the problem, it's the Ubuntu release.

To be fair, the Nvidia drivers are proprietary, so Ubuntu are not duty-bound to support them, but it would be nice if they did.
  9. [ubuntu] Re: GeForce4 MX 440 Not Supported in Maverick Meerkat 10.10 Upgrade?

This is the wrong way around, it's not Nvidia's problem.
The drivers are ok, they worked fine, it's Maverick that's the problem, or more accurately, Xorg.

[kubuntu] Re: *buntu 10.10 xorg and nvidia problem

I've gone back to 10.04 because of this issue. In fact, I may just stick with LTS releases for now.

I moved from ATI cards to Nvidia because of ATI issues, and now Nvdia issues have emerged, I...

    [ubuntu] Evolution upgrade problem

I've already posted this in a different category, but it seems more appropriate here:

I'm having problems exporting mail and from Lucid (evolution 2.28 ) to Maverick (evolution 2.30 ).

    [ubuntu] Re: re-installation problem

Thanks for your response. I've downloaded and tried the alternate CD.

The alternate installer certainly sees the problem hardisk, but as it's quite different to the live one, I'm going to...

    [ubuntu] Re: re-installation problem

Here's a simpler way of posing the question:

Why would the installer on a 9.10 live CD not see a hard disk, when Gparted of the same CD can see it?

And why is this not the case with 9.04?

  18. Re: USB Remote works like keyboard - how to map keys

  19. Re: USB Remote works like keyboard - how to map keys

Sports Car Guy, it would take you 1/4 of the time to actually help this guy, than you spent telling him why you won't. You're not only rude, you're obsessive and verbose with it.
