  1. Re: Ubuntu 20.04 doesn’t detect second monitor (AMD)

    Update your system.
The kernel version in use is a year out of date.

If after updating it still has issues, you might require the hardware enablement stack.
    See:...
  2. Re: How is ZFS coming in Ubuntu's development of it?

    That's a big jump,
from when will it be included to when will it be the default.
    Those are totally different things.
As far as I know there is no plan to make it the default file system.
  3. Re: Looking to upgrade Kubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 (command line)

    It won't install Ubuntu's desktop.
It won't change your partitioning scheme.

I hope you have read through the Kubuntu release notes to see what will be changed?...
  4. Re: How is ZFS coming in Ubuntu's development of it?

You'd probably get a more thorough answer here: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/

As far as I know ZFS is already included. At least on the kernel side of things.
But it seems that only the Desktop...

    [ubuntu] Re: /etc/securetty is MIA

    It's a known issue.
Or at least an issue which has been addressed in a report.
    See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pam/+bug/1860826
which explains what's going on and how to fix if...

[SOLVED] Re: Running apt as root get error

    What permission issues?
The only issue I see is that the package listing of available updates are out of date, or out of whack.

    Run

    apt update
    apt upgrade
    if still issues
    try with
  7. [ubuntu] Re: automatic upgrades question re: reboot

It'll reboot into however it is normally setup to reboot into.
If it's setup to require you to login, then that's what it will do.
  8. [ubuntu] Re: why do i see this messege when openning text files?

It's a setting in Files Preferences, which your's is currently set to ask.
Options are open or view, execute or run, and ask.
I think the default is to open the file in a text editor.

  11. [xubuntu] Re: repeated error messages when running apt-get

    No, you did not.
    Your output is this

    utilisateur@utilisateur-TravelMate-P253:~$ apt --fix-broken install

    No sudo.
  12. [xubuntu] Re: repeated error messages when running apt-get

Your signature for xu8buntu (I guessing you mean Xubuntu) usage precedes the OS by over seven years.

It also shows the kernel which is really old.

    I would suggest running

    sudo apt update...
  13. [SOLVED] Re: Can I track down and reverse certain recent updates?

    What do your /etc/apt/sources.list show?

    FTR this shows upgraded packages

    /var/log/dpkg.log:2021-09-27 17:14:56 upgrade ipxe-qemu:all 1.0.0+git-20180124.fbe8c52d-0ubuntu2.2...
  14. [xubuntu] Re: repeated error messages when running apt-get

Further beyond running with an option like update or upgrade you also need to run it with elevated rights, like with sudo, or be running as root.
Or else it'll simply output permission denied.
    ...
  15. [SOLVED] Re: Can I track down and reverse certain recent updates?

The qemu packages show they're moved up to the 20.04 versions, somehow.
    What happened there?
Did your apt sources get changed?
  16. [SOLVED] Re: Dragging files to folder does not open that targeted folder (Ubuntu 20.04)

I've been hit by both behaviors at the wrong time, so...

If you're fast and accurate you can drop files into sub-folders using the old behavior without the sub-folder opening.
    But key there is...
  17. [SOLVED] Re: Dragging files to folder does not open that targeted folder (Ubuntu 20.04)

Old behavior was drag a file (or folder) and hover it over a folder and it would open to the hovered over folder.
New behavior is drag a file and hover over folder will stay in current directory,...

  19. Re: I failed to install indicator-brightness on ubuntu 20

    Let's look at your sources.
    Post back what

    cat /etc/apt/sources.list
    tail /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*
    output.
Something in there is not right.

The current output shows it is no longer trying...
  20. Re: I failed to install indicator-brightness on ubuntu 20

The error shown is different from before.
There is no longer an Error in the output, but this line
is new. And it is not normal.
Did you try to add the ppa manually or something?

    Also, it is...
  21. Re: I failed to install indicator-brightness on ubuntu 20

    Run

    sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:indicator-brightness/ppa
as the PPA is now dead.
It also only worked for the old unity desktop which Ubuntu no longer uses.

    As for anything that might...
  22. Re: Trouble nagivating to /home directory in terminal

    You were already in home.
The ~ symbol is symbolic of your home directory.

To move back to home simply run cd without anything else.
    use the...

Re: New official kernel for 18.04 LTS?

Latest GA kernel available for 18.04 is 4.15.0-158.
