    Another technique to try thanks.

I will report any new revelations.
  2. Re: Shutdown sequence hangs at "Reached target Power-Off."

I wrote a thoughtful response to this lost on auto-logout refresh. briefly:

    infinite hang
    Normal shutdown is speedy.

  7. [xubuntu] Should I use the Gnome network manager in Xubuntu?

The problem is I cannot see an OpenVPN option in settings after installation.

    I had two package options:

  8. Re: Shutdown sequence hangs at "Reached target Power-Off."

UPDATE: I am getting the error on a different machine, Xubuntu Fossa (20) won't shut down.

I have noticed a difference: If I boot the os on a USB, it shuts down. If I boot exactly the same on...

Re: How to get Tor Browser to start?

Trying to delete this thread which isn't an obvious option, Tor is running. I suspect a network error or configuration glitch on my system.

  11. [SOLVED] Re: Which module is Xubuntu seeking in error message upon boot?

The Trusted Platform Module entry was standing out, but social confirmation was the ticket. Thanks for having a look.

I wonder why it was assumed to be needed:

I boot two different versions of Xubuntu by ISO, 16 (Xenial) & 20 (Fossa).

Xenial shuts down normally. Fossa hangs at the title quote you can also see in the photo:

    At that point I power-off...

  17. Re: How do we update the repositories to latest supported Chromium?

Indeed. I have this weird relationship with Bionic (18) with newer app version support while preferring Xenial. 20 will drive us to new machines or Debian.

Right now my faith is in GRUB2 for...
  18. Re: How do we update the repositories to latest supported Chromium?

The only thing I'm doing on a 32-bit computer in Lubuntu is USB tethering. It works where my regular distro does not. Snaps or any new package systems are not a consideration.

  20. Re: How do we update the repositories to latest supported Chromium?

I am confused about Ubuntu-based Linux families & the conversion to Snap they do not follow. Wouldn't that put everyone on Snap?

  22. Does uninstalling LIVE boot apps free RAM?

If I uninstall Firefox because I do not need a browser, what system resources are freed if any in a live, read-only boot?
  23. How do we update the repositories to latest supported Chromium?

I need Ubuntu 16 for customization purposes where Chromium updates to 90.

Chromium 106 works in 16 with normal dependencies.

How do we update the repositories for the most current browsers?
  24. How to acquire Ubuntu 16 dependencies for current Chromium?

I'm in a standalone version of Ungoogled Chromium so I know it's possible despite how badly developers want us to start from scratch with new os.
