ZMUD works under wine, however not so good.
GMud works under wine, ocassionaly crashes.
Kmuddy nad Mudmagic is what I used on KDE.
On XFCE & Gnome I use gnome-mud.

I'm running Edgy and had the same problem. Used the packages _simon_ suggested and everything went great. It works, great game for multiplayer.
